Slump Test

Fresh concrete workability testing to BS EN 12350

About This Service

CTSL provides professional slump testing services to assess the consistency and workability of fresh concrete on site. Conducted at the point of delivery, slump testing helps verify whether concrete is suitable for placement and meets project specifications before pouring begins.

Our technicians take samples directly from site and carry out slump testing in accordance with BS EN 12350-2, delivering reliable, standards-compliant results you can trust.

What Is a Slump Test?

A slump test is a quick and reliable method for checking the consistency and workability of fresh concrete. It provides an indication of how wet the mix is, how easily it can be placed, and whether it is suitable for the intended construction application.

Fresh concrete is compacted into a cone-shaped mould. The cone is then lifted and the distance the concrete settles is measured. Slump values, typically ranging from 10mm to 210mm, help indicate the uniformity and consistency of the mix.

Why Slump Testing Matters

  • Verify concrete consistency on delivery
  • Confirm uniformity between batches
  • Support compliance with project specifications
  • Identify potential issues before pouring
  • Improve on-site quality control
  • Reduce risk associated with unsuitable concrete mixes
